Chelmsford Police Department Investigating Threat Against High School

CHELMSFORD — Chief Colin Spence reports that the Chelmsford Police Department is investigating a threat made against Chelmsford High School.

On Friday morning, the Department was notified that a threat had been found in a school bathroom. Chelmsford Police immediately opened an investigation in coordination with the Chelmsford Public Schools and provided additional resources on campus.

The Chelmsford Police Department does not consider the threat to be credible at this time and does not believe there is an ongoing danger to the school community. However, Chelmsford Police will have an increased presence on campus this week out of an abundance of caution as the investigation remains active.

“Our department and the Chelmsford Public Schools share a close relationship and the view that student safety is our first priority,” Chief Spence said. “We take each and every threat such as this extremely seriously. Even if a threat is not credible, it creates fear and anxiety and should not be minimized.”
