Bridgewater Police Investigating After Parent Receives Anonymous Phone Call Threatening Student at High School

BRIDGEWATER — Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte and Superintendent Ryan T. Powers report that the Bridgewater Police Department is investigating after a parent went to Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School to report that they received an anonymous phone call threatening their child with a weapon Thursday afternoon.

As a result of the threat, school officials at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School ordered the school to shelter in place and immediately notified police.

Police have determined that there is no active threat to the school community and that the threat was not credible.

Out of an abundance of caution, police conducted multiple searches of the building and did not find any weapons. At approximately 1:45 p.m., the shelter-in-place order was lifted and students were dismissed.

Police received the initial report of the incident around noon.

As of Thursday afternoon, Bridgewater Police detectives are actively investigating the matter and are working to identify a suspect. No charges have been filed at this time.
