Bourne Public Schools Announces Stephanie Burns as New Elementary Special Education Coordinator

BOURNE — Superintendent Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou is pleased to announce that Stephanie Burns has been appointed as the new Elementary Special Education Coordinator at Bourne Public Schools.

Burns began the position on July 29.

Burns previously served as a special education facilitator for New Bedford Public Schools for three years.

Prior to this role, Burns served as an education director for Whitney Academy and a special education coordinator for Sandwich Public Schools.

She also served seven years as an administrator for student services for Lincoln Public Schools. Burns served a total of eight years in Newton Public Schools as an assistant principal, assistant director and director for pupil services. She began her career as a special education teacher for the San Diego Unified School District in California and a behavioral (ABA) therapist for the May Institute in Chatham.

“Stephanie brings a wide range of administrative and educational experience to Bourne Public Schools,” said Superintendent Quinlan-Zhou. “I am eager to see what she accomplishes and I’m confident that she will excel in her new role.”

Burns holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Vermont, a Master of Arts degree in Special Education from San Diego State University and a Master of Education degree in Administration, Training, Policy, & Procedure from Boston University. She also received a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Special Education Administration from Boston University.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Bourne Public Schools staff,” said Burns. “I’m looking forward to supporting students in the best way I can, and I’m eager to become acquainted with the students and families that make Bourne such a remarkable community.”
