Bedford Police Department Arrests Burlington Woman for Operating Under the Influence During Saturation Patrol

BEDFORD — Chief John Fisher reports that Bedford Police arrested and charged a Burlington woman with Operating Under the Influence during an Impaired Driving saturation patrol on Saturday.

STEPHANIE TEA, AGE 32, of BURLINGTON was arrested and charged with:

  • Operating Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Marked Lanes Violation
  • Speeding
  • Use of an Electronic Device
  • Open Container of Alcohol

On Saturday, Aug. 17 and Sunday, Aug. 18, several Bedford police officers were assigned to an Operating Under the Influence saturation patrol. The patrol was intended to detect and remove motorists operating under the influence from the roadway, while educating the public and strengthening awareness of the dangers of impaired driving.

During that time, officers patrolling the area near Route 3 pulled a vehicle over on Burlington Road. Officers identified the operator as TEA and observed her exhibiting signs of being under the influence.

After an initial field investigation, TEA was placed under arrest without incident.

TEA was arraigned on Monday, Aug. 19 in Concord District Court.

Bedford Police stopped 25 vehicles for various violations during these patrols. Most stops were brief, and operators were released from the stop location with warnings.

“The safety of our community is of paramount importance to the Department, which is why implementing focused patrols like this one is necessary,” said Chief Fisher. “We want to educate the public and emphasize the severity of impaired driving, but above all, we want to prevent these instances from occurring again.”

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
