Wayland Police and Fire Departments Respond to Crash Involving Construction Worker

WAYLAND — Police Chief Ed Burman and Fire Chief Neil McPherson report that the Wayland Police and Fire Departments responded to a crash involving a construction worker. 

On Friday, Aug. 2 at approximately 11:04 a.m. Wayland Police and Fire responded to Stonebridge Roadfor a report of a construction worker who was struck by a vehicle while working.

Upon arrival, crews located the worker who was suffering from injuries consistent with the crash. The worker was transported via medical helicopter to a local hospital.  

A preliminary investigation determined that the worker was struck by one of the construction trucks as it was backing up. Both workers are employees of a company contracted through the town. 

The condition of the worker is unknown at this time. There were no other injuries.  

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with police.  

The crash remains under investigation by Wayland Police. There is no additional information at this time.
