ACUSHNET — Superintendent Dr. Paula Bailey and Acushnet Public Schools are excited to announce that the district will begin to offer extended-day enrichment programming with AlphaBEST for the 2024-2025 school year.
AlphaBEST provides a supervised environment for children in kindergarten through sixth grade, with an expanded learning curriculum and enrichment opportunities before and after school hours, offering programming for students catered to areas of interest such as coding, robotics, digital animation, engineering, drama, arts and fitness. Parents may opt-in to enroll their K-6th grade children in this paid enrichment program.
Acushnet Public Schools is implementing this childcare option after reviewing feedback responses from a community survey that was conducted earlier this year. The district is reintroducing an extended-day enrichment option, with the last program ending before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The community told us there was a need for these services, and we wanted to provide our families with the best extended day option for their children,” Superintendent Bailey said. “I’m so excited to see an extended-day program option resume in our schools and I look forward to seeing the impact this hands-on enrichment has on our students.”
AlphaBEST was chosen based on several key criteria, including proven success in delivering similar programs in other school districts, high quality of service, comprehensive program offerings, strong program administration, effective strategies for supporting high-needs students, expertise and experience of the after-school program directors and staff, user-friendly registration and payment processes and affordability for families and cost efficiency for the district.
AlphaBEST is currently securing the necessary licensing to operate within the Acushnet Public Schools, and the district aims to have this program ready by the start of the school year or shortly thereafter. In the coming days, the district will share more details necessary for parents, including the start date, rates and information on how qualifying families can obtain vouchers for free or reduced-cost participation. More information on AlphaBEST’s programming can be found here.
