On Wednesday, July 17, at about 9:25 p.m., the Taunton Police Department received reports of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Burt Street and Winthrop Street.

Upon arrival, first responders observed a Honda Accord and a Toyota Camry that appeared to have collided head-on. Both drivers had exited their cars prior to the arrival of responding officers.

Both the driver of the Honda Accord and the driver of the Toyota Camry were transported to a Rhode Island hospital by Brewster Ambulances for their injuries.

The Taunton Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The scene was cleared at approximately 12:32 a.m.

The driver of the Honda Accord, a 38-YEAR-OLD PROVIDENCE MAN, will be summoned to court and charged with:

  • Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Marked Lanes Violation

The crash remains under investigation by the Taunton Police Department and the Taunton Police Accident Reconstruction Team.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
