WHAT:
Rye EMS and Fire personnel are reuniting with Christopher Phillips, a Hampton resident who was saved by first responders in 2022 after suffering a cardiac event.
On Sept. 11, 2022, Rye Fire and Rescue responded to Summer Sessions Surf Shop, 2281 Ocean Boulevard, for reports that a 60-year-old male was suffering from cardiac arrest.
Upon arrival paramedics observed Phillps receiving assistance from shop owner Ryan McGill and other bystanders.
Paramedics jumped into action, took over CPR compressions, and successfully resuscitated Phillips on the scene. Phillps was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for further treatment.
Phillips has since been released from the hospital and is doing well.
“I would like to commend our members for working diligently to provide the best care and service to our residents, which is what we strive to do day in and day out here in Rye,” said Chief Cotreau. “I would also like to recognize the bystanders who assisted in helping Christopher until paramedics arrived. We look forward to reuniting with Christopher and his family this week.”
