ACTON — The Town of Acton and State Officials will hold a ceremony recognizing and honoring Alison Mammola, the 19-year-old lifeguard who, during her lunch break, saved a 5-year-old boy from drowning in an Acton pool on Sunday, June 23.

WHAT:
Alison Mammola was working as a lifeguard at the Bellows Farms condominium on Sunday, June 23, when a 5-year-old boy lost his flotation devices and sunk to the bottom of the 9-foot end of the pool.
Without hesitation, Mammola dove in and brought the boy to the surface. She then used her training to render critical lifesaving aid to the boy until Acton first responders arrived at the scene.
Mammola will be presented with certificates of commendation from the Town of Acton, the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, and local delegation to the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
