Newport Police Seeking Public Assistance in Identifying Robbery Suspect 

NEWPORT — Chief Travis Bingham reports that the Newport Police Department is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect in connection with a bank robbery that occurred this morning.  

On Monday, June 24 at approximately 9:42 a.m. Newport Police responded to Passumpsic Savings Bank, 1 Gardner St., for a report of a robbery.  

Upon arrival, officers spoke with bank staff, who observed the suspect walk up to the bank teller and pass a note to them demanding large bills. The suspect verbally threatened staff with a firearm, however the firearm was not brandished.  

The suspect then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and was seen leaving in a black BMW sedan with New Hampshire license plates. 

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, white shoes, and a blue beanie with white LR letters printed on the front. The suspect also has multiple tattoos on his hands, arms, and face.
