NEWPORT — Chief Travis Bingham reports that the Newport Police Department has arrested and charged a Newport woman following an incident at North Country Hospital.
KIANA M. BADAN, 27, OF NEWPORT, is charged with:
- Assault of Protected Professional
- Disorderly Conduct
- Unlawful Trespass
On Wednesday, June 19, at about 12:16 a.m., Newport Police responded to reports that a woman was refusing to leave the hospital, was harassing other patients in the lobby, and had assaulted a nurse.
An initial investigation determined that the woman, identified as BADAN, had been discharged from the Emergency Department after refusing treatment but had returned to the lobby. She was arrested without incident.
BADAN is known to Newport Police. She also is wanted on warrants for failure to appear in court on both theft and drug charges.
BADAN is currently lodged at the Northern State Correctional Facility after failing to produce a $200 bail. BADAN will be arraigned on Wednesday afternoon at the Orleans County Criminal Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
