BOURNE — Superintendent Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou is pleased to announce that Bourne Drama received three nominations from the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild (METG).
On Monday, June 10, students, staff members and family members attended the METG ceremony that took place at Lawrence High School.
Four Bourne Public Schools students, middle school student Brady Russell and high school students Keilah Rauch, Gemma Gray and Kiley Severance were recognized for their participation in the productions.
For the high school’s production of “Beauty and the Beast,” the production crew was nominated in two different categories:
- Nomination for Best Costume Design: Bourne High School “Beauty and the Beast”
- Nomination for Best Hair/Make-up Design: Bourne High School “Beauty and the Beast”
In addition, middle schooler Brady Russell was nominated for Best Performance in a Male Presenting Role for his portrayal of Charlie Bucket in “Willy Wonka Jr.”
“We are so proud of our performers in both schools,” Superintendent Quinlan-Zhou said. “We know how much effort they put into their performances and productions, and they could not be more deserving of these prestigious nominations.”
“It was a really fun experience and it was inspiring to see the performances from other schools that had also been nominated for their work,” said Kiley Severance. “The whole design team was like one big family and to be able to show what we accomplished with our performance by getting recognized with these two nominations made us feel incredibly proud of ourselves and of one another.”
Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild
The METG is a nonprofit organization that promotes and strengthens excellence, access and education in the theatrical arts for middle and high school students and teachers. More than 150 schools throughout the Commonwealth are members. The METG had taken a hiatus from their former musical theater awards program and successfully returned this year, celebrating the achievements of 42 high school and 13 middle school student submissions from around the state of Massachusetts. Some schools submitted more than one production for consideration.
