HULL — Superintendent Judith Kuehn and incoming Superintendent Michael Jette are pleased to announce Robert J. Shaw’s appointment as the new principal of Hull High School.
Shaw will begin in the position on July 1.
He was selected following a comprehensive search and interview process that included input from multiple stakeholders, including Hull High School faculty and staff, parents, community members and administrators.
“I am delighted that Robert is choosing to join our team in Hull Public Schools,” said incoming Superintendent Jette. “Listening in on the work of our hiring committee and the various staff, parent, and student forums, it is clear that he has the experience and attributes to build strong relationships with all members of the school community. Robert is ready to understand the proud past of Hull High School while also guiding us into the future.”
Shaw, a Norwell resident, comes to Hull from TEC Connections Academy in Walpole, where he has served as principal since July 2021. While serving in this role, he oversaw the hiring, supervision, and mentoring of teachers, designed professional development activities for staff and managed the virtual learning experience of over 1,700 students across Massachusetts.
Shaw began his career in education as an English teacher at North Quincy High School, then advanced to the roles of English department chair and assistant principal. In 2012, he was ultimately appointed principal of North Quincy High School.
While working for the Quincy School District, Shaw developed and implemented professional development activities as well as the district’s early college program. In addition to these responsibilities, Shaw was responsible for the expansion of the pre-advanced placement curriculum at four middle schools and the extension of STEM and vocational/technical offerings, including Project Lead the Way.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston, as well as multiple postgraduate degrees, including a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education and certificates in Educational Administration and Leadership and Organization Studies from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
“On behalf of the entire district, I would like to welcome Robert Shaw as principal of Hull High School,” said Superintendent Kuehn. “Robert brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the district and we look forward to starting the 2024-2025 school year on such a positive note.”
