MIDDLEBOROUGH — Police Chief Joseph Perkins reports that the Middleborough Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on Fuller Street on Monday morning.
On Monday, June 10, at 11:41 a.m., Middleborough Police responded to Fuller Street, near the Halifax and Middleborough town line, for a report of a motor vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, first responders observed a 2015 white GMC pickup truck that had struck a tree and was flipped over into marsh water. The sole occupant, a 23-year-old male from Bridgewater, was ejected into the water in a small brook beside the road.
The identity of the driver is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the accident.
Middleborough Fire Department divers attempted a water rescue, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fuller Street at the Middleborough and Halifax town line will be closed to traffic while the scene is still active.
Middleborough Police are investigating the crash with assistance from the State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
