MAYNARD — The Town of Maynard is developing a consumer-friendly electricity program called Maynard Power Choice. The program is an electricity aggregation, which is a group electricity purchasing program for Maynard residents and businesses.
Through Maynard Power Choice, the Town will use its collective buying power to give residents and businesses greater control over the cost and environmental impact of the electricity they buy. Eversource will continue to deliver electricity to Maynard without interruption and handle billing.
While Maynard Power Choice will not be able to guarantee lower prices compared with Eversource’s Basic Service prices, the Town is committed to working toward providing prices that are competitive and stable.
Before launching the program, the Town must develop an Aggregation Plan and submit it to state regulators for review and approval. To ensure the public has an opportunity to be a part of developing this program, the Town is making its draft Aggregation Plan and associated documents available for review and comment before beginning that regulatory review process.
The draft aggregation documents for Maynard Power Choice will be available for public review and comment from June 4 until July 8. Those interested in reviewing the documents can download them from the Town of Maynard website (https://www.townofmaynard-ma.gov/511/Maynard-Power-
Choice) or obtain hard copies from the Town Clerk’s office in Maynard Town Hall.
Maynard residents and business owners are encouraged to review the draft documents and submit written comments via email to maynardpowerchoice@townofmaynard.net or via U.S. Mail to: Sustainability Committee, Maynard Town Hall, 195 Main Street, Maynard MA 01754. Comments sent by mail must be received (not postmarked) by the end of the comment period in order to be addressed.
An overview of the draft Maynard Power Choice Aggregation Plan was presented at the Select Board meeting on June 4. Information about participating can be found on the Maynard Select Board website (www.townofmaynard-ma.gov/261/Select-Board).
