The New Hampshire School Administrators Association (NHSAA) proudly announces that Associate Executive Director Jerry Frew will be honored for his commitment to educational excellence at a statewide awards ceremony.
The New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards program recognizes exemplary schools and individuals each year. The annual EDies awards banquet on Saturday, June 8, in Manchester will honor more than 30 individuals and schools statewide as selected by their member organizations. Honorees represent those who deliver high-quality curriculum, provide vital support services, or passionately advocate for New Hampshire’s children.
The EDies Board of Directors selected Frew as its honoree, dedicating the program book to his nearly 50 years in education.
“I was truly shocked and extremely humbled on receiving the notification of this incredible honor. There are so many outstanding educators in this state, and it is beyond humbling to be a representative of them in a forum celebrating excellence in our public schools,” Frew said. “It has been a privilege for nearly 50 years to work with so many amazing students and dedicated staff members, in great communities who value and support education.
“In the words of our late son Ryan, ‘There is no greater reward than knowing that you have had a positive impact on someone’s life journey.’ Hopefully working together, we have, and will continue to make a difference in many life journeys. We are better together.”
A New Hampshire native, Frew has worked as a teacher, coach, Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent.
Among numerous honors during his career, he received the James Desmarais Outstanding Service Award in recognition of his 25 years of service to the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association. He was named New Hampshire’s Superintendent of the Year for 2014-2015 as leader of the Kearsarge Regional School District.
Frew has served on the Executive Board of the N.H. Association of School Principals, the Executive Board of the NHSAA, the Virtual Learning Academy Charter School Board of Directors, and has represented New Hampshire on the Governing Board of the American Association of School Administrators. He was named NHSAA’s Associate Executive Director in 2018.
“Jerry Frew deserves to be recognized and celebrated! He has been a true champion for public education for nearly five decades. His sincere kindness, authenticity, and caring are combined with a limitless reserve of skill, sage wisdom, and expertise,” NHSAA Executive Director Mark MacLean said. “Jerry is a trusted mentor and friend to many educators and system leaders in New Hampshire and beyond. Throughout his illustrious career, his talents, optimism, folksy charm, and easy demeanor have left a positive impact on countless students, teachers, and education leaders. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of our gratitude!”
