PLAINVILLE — The Plainville Taxation Aid Committee is pleased to share an update on its ongoing work to aid low-income seniors and disabled residents in paying their property taxes.
The Plainville Taxation Aid Fund is a voluntary program that helps Plainville’s low-income seniors and disabled residents pay their property tax, funded by donations from residents.
This year, the Taxation Aid Committee significantly increased the income limits so that more residents may be eligible for this program.
The new income limits are $38,000 for one resident or $51,000 for a couple.
“This is a 25% increase in income limits,” said Committee Chair Richard Guillette. “You may be eligible for a tax grant this year, whereas other years you were not.”
The process for tax grant applications will begin in June. Applications will be available at the Senior Center, Tax Collectors Office and Assessors Office.
“Each year we are able to help defray the costs of property taxes for our low-income seniors and disabled residents thanks to the generous donations made by our community members,” Treasurer-Collector Janet Jannell said. “This year, we expect more applications, and based on funds available, we hope to award more tax grants. We thank everyone for their generosity in support of this program.”
If residents or businesses wish to make a contribution to the fund, they are encouraged to mail a check made payable to:
