Old Rochester Regional School District and Massachusetts Superintendency Union #55 Announces New Principal for Sippican Elementary School

The Old Rochester Regional School District and Massachusetts Superintendency Union #55 Superintendent Michael S. Nelson is pleased to announce Lynn Dessert’s appointment as the new Principal of Sippican Elementary School, effective July 1. Dessert brings more than 25 years of experience in educational leadership, marked by a commitment to enhancing student achievement through data-driven strategies and fostering a dynamic learning environment.

The Old Rochester Regional School District and Massachusetts Superintendency Union #55 Superintendent Michael S. Nelson is pleased to announce Lynn Dessert’s appointment as the new Principal of Sippican Elementary School, effective July 1. Dessert brings more than 25 years of experience in educational leadership, marked by a commitment to enhancing student achievement through data-driven strategies and fostering a dynamic learning environment.

Lynn Dessert joins Sippican School from Dighton Elementary School, where she has served as Principal and Title I Director in the Dighton Rehoboth Regional District since 2017. Her tenure at Dighton was characterized by a strong emphasis on student-centered decision-making, collaborative management, and implementing evidence-based practices to drive instructional improvement.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lynn Dessert to our district,” said Michael S. Nelson, Superintendent of Old Rochester Regional School District and Massachusetts Superintendency Union #55. “Her extensive experience and proven leadership in educational excellence will be invaluable to our school community. We look forward to her contributions to nurturing a supportive and effective learning environment at Sippican Elementary School.”

Throughout her career, Dessert has demonstrated a dedication to professional collaboration, having successfully led various initiatives to improve teaching methodologies and student outcomes. Her background includes roles as Principal of John A. Parker School in New Bedford, District Data and Assessment Manager, and Teaching Learning Specialist, among others. She holds a Master of School Administration from American International College and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary/Special Education from Bridgewater State University.

“I am excited to be the new Sippican Elementary Principal, dedicated to creating a nurturing and inclusive school community that celebrates every student’s strengths and fosters a love for learning and growth,” said Lynn Dessert. “I can’t wait to embark on this incredible journey with all of you.”

Marion School Committee Chairperson April Nye said, “As the School Committee Chair, I have been a part of this hiring process from the start and could not be more excited to welcome Mrs. Dessert to our Sippican community!   I know under her strong leadership, the children, staff, and families will be in great hands moving forward, and I anticipate a wonderful new school year to kick off in the Fall of 2024 as we welcome everyone back from the summer.

Dessert’s approach to educational leadership is rooted in building strong relationships, collaboration, and a shared sense of purpose.
