BURLINGTON — Chief Thomas Browne has provided the following update in relation to a phone call threat made to Marshall Simonds Middle School on the afternoon of Friday, May 24:

“Our investigation has progressed, and we have identified a small number of potential suspects in relation to the phone call threat on Friday,” Chief Browne said. “We remain confident with our earlier assessment of there being no credible and ongoing threat within the school district.”

“Notwithstanding our assessment and out of an abundance of caution, the Burlington Police will provide a visible presence at all Burlington Public Schools on Tuesday. I recognize that this posture may cause concern to some parents, but our officers are there to support the work of the schools.

“Our progress in the investigation and the ongoing operation of the schools would not be possible without the cooperation of district staff and leadership, and for that, I would like to thank Burlington Schools Superintendent Eric Conti,” Chief Browne said.
