MATTAPOISETT — Superintendent Michael S. Nelson and Principal Heidi Letendre are pleased to share that Rochester Memorial School students participated in the school’s second-annual STEAMapalooza event.
STEAMapalooza was held on Thursday, May 16, at Rochester Memorial School and featured a variety of science, technology, engineering, art and math projects from students in grades K-6.
“This night is a fantastic event for RMS students to showcase their scientific inquiries, engage in math games, explore various types of art and show off their own artwork,” said Principal Letendre.
Throughout the night, families had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities including The Art Show with Mrs. Hemenway, Music Ensembles with Ms. Audette and Mrs. Laprise, Math Games with Mrs. Mazzuca and STEM Challenges with Mrs. Sollauer.
Grade-level science demonstrations and presentations took place throughout the evening. Students participated by entering a submission to the science fair. Students had the opportunity to enter projects as individuals or groups. The projects could either use the scientific method to conduct an experiment or create an invention to solve a problem by following the engineering design process.
The family night closed with the Rochester Memorial School Recorder Concert, where third-grade students showed off their beginning musical talents.
In addition to these activities, Rochester Memorial School PTO organized a book fair, open and available to families where Rochester Memorial School Librarian Sandi Sollauer shared the Summer Reading Programs being offered this year.
“We are so fortunate to have such dedicated faculty and staff who have organized this 2nd Annual STEAM-a-palooza night for everyone to enjoy,” said Principal Letendre.
“I would like to thank our student participants as well as our dedicated faculty and staff for organizing another successful STEAM-a-palooza,” added Superintendent Nelson
