Organizers Seeking Participants to Share Their Cultures

Superintendent Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou is pleased to announce that the Bourne Public Schools will host the upcoming “Bourne Celebrates Everyone” event in June. This celebration of diversity will feature music, dance, fashion, history, and lots of conversation, showcasing the rich composition of the Bourne community.

The event will take place on Wednesday, June 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bourne High School.

Organized by the Bourne Public Schools Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee, the event aims to create a space to celebrate every family’s uniqueness. Attendees will enjoy a variety of stations offering performances, information and educational displays. Highlights include a special performance by Candida Rose and the Kabu Jazz Ensemble, who will also work with students from Bourne High School and Bourne Intermediate School during the day.

Quinlan-Zhou said, “We want to showcase diversity in the broadest possible definition. Every family is unique in its routines, background, professions, abilities and disabilities or family structure. We want to celebrate and highlight it all.”

Call for Participants: The success of “Bourne Celebrates Everyone” depends on the active participation of our community. We are currently seeking families, individuals, and organizations to host stations. Whether you want to teach a cultural dance, share a traditional song, show what makes you and your daily life unique or display items that narrate your family’s history, your contribution will enrich our event.

Why Participate?

  • Engage with the Community: Connect with other families, learn about diverse cultures, habits, daily challenges and celebrate inclusivity.
  • Support Education: Help foster an environment of learning and appreciation for diversity in our schools.
