MARLBOROUGH — Superintendent Mary Murphy and Principal Rupal Patel would like to update the community on the planning process for the popular annual Jaworek Elementary School block party.
The block party will be held Tuesday, June 4, at Jaworek Elementary School from 6-8 p.m. Admission is free. Jaworek parent DJ Brentley will host.
The event will feature a DJ, face painting, and a balloon artist among many other activities. Mayor J. Christian Dumais and Jaworek faculty have been invited to participate in the dunk tank, a favorite activity for students in years past.
Community non-profits attending include Marlborough Public Schools Human Resources, MetroWest Boys & Girls Club, and the Girl Scouts. Attendees can connect with local businesses that will be hosting booths.
Committed food and drink vendors include Uhlman’s Ice Cream, Lalo’s, Big T’s Jerky House & BBQ, The Stand, Kona Ice, Thee Taco Dude, and Marlborough Public Schools Food Services. More food vendors are expected to be added as the deadline for vendors approaches.
The Jaworek Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is still accepting vendors from small businesses, crafters, and non-profit organizations. Vendors may apply through Wednesday, May 15 by emailing jaworekpto@gmail.com, or by messaging the Jaworek PTO through its Facebook or Instagram pages.
The PTO is also accepting donations for raffle prizes to be auctioned off at the block party. Current raffle prizes include gift cards to local restaurants, admission to sports events and museums, book baskets, and a Nintendo Switch Lite. Those interested may email jaworekpto@gmail.com.
Raffle tickets can be purchased at the event using cash or Venmo. Sales proceeds will go directly to the PTO to support Jaworek students, staff, and families.
A full list of raffle prizes and vendors can be found here.
Additionally, the PTO is seeking volunteers to assist with setup, greeting attendees, staffing the dunk tank, and selling raffle tickets. Volunteers will receive five raffle tickets for each half-hour shift.
Community members can register to volunteer here.
The PTO will open its regular meeting on Wednesday, May 15 to community members interested in assisting with planning. The meeting will be held at the school from 7-8 p.m.
Questions may be sent to the Jaworek PTO at jaworekpto@gmail.com.
“The block party is always a great opportunity for our students and families to come together and connect with each other,” Principal Patel said. “Thank you to the PTO, vendors, community members, and volunteers who continue to make this event a success.”
