Manchester, N.H., Woman Charged After Wrong-Way Crash on Route 101 in Bedford, N.H.

MARIA ROSARIO, 51, of MANCHESTER, is charged with:

  • Felony Reckless Conduct
  • Conduct after an Accident
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Simple Assault
  • Littering

At about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, Bedford Police received a report of a head-on collision on Route 101 near the intersection of Liberty Hill Road. Upon arrival, police determined that one of the operators was driving the incorrect way on the divided highway.

Prior to police arrival, one of the vehicle operators, later identified as ROSARIO, fled the scene on foot and waded into a nearby swamp. With assistance from Bedford firefighters, ROSARIO was extracted from the swamp and transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for evaluation.

The operator of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

ROSARIO is being held on preventative detention. She will be arraigned Wednesday morning at Merrimack District Court.
