AVON — Fire Chief David Charest and Town Administrator Jonathan Beder are pleased to announce that the Avon Fire Department welcomed three firefighters during a pinning ceremony at the most recent Select Board meeting.
At the Thursday, April 18, Select Board meeting, board members and Chief Charest recognized Nicholas Gazerro as a new full-time firefighter and Ricardo Calixte and Tyler Csakan as new Call Firefighters.
Nicholas Gazerro
Previously a firefighter for five years with the Town of East Bridgewater, Gazerro comes to Avon as a certified paramedic and a graduate of the Massachusetts Fire Academy. Gazerro will be a fulltime Avon Firefighter and will be working towards acquiring an Associate’s degree in Fire Science from Massasoit Community College. He was pinned by his wife, Sara Gazerro, at the ceremony.
Ricardo Calixte
Calixte is new to the fire service. He joined the Avon Fire Department eager to serve the community as a Call Firefighter. Calixte will be attending the MA Call/Volunteer Recruit Training Program in the coming months. He was pinned by his wife, Oliveras Calixte.
Tyler Csakan
Csakan is new to the fire service. He joined the fire service to continue his family tradition. Members of his family have served and presently serve as firefighters in surrounding communities. He will also attend the MA Call/Volunteer Recruit Training Program. Csakan was pinned by his mother, Trish Csakan.
