MEDFIELD — Superintendent Jeffrey Marsden is pleased to share the success of Medfield Public Schools’ annual Design Your Learning Day, which was rebranded this year as AI-Driven Learning Day (DLD).
The event was rebranded to highlight this year’s theme of artificial intelligence.
Each year, DLD serves as an opportunity for educators to share best practices and collaborate with colleagues from surrounding districts. The professional development-based event aims to provide learning opportunities created by and designed for educators.
The 13th annual event was held on April 3 at Medfield High School. It was attended by approximately 300 educators and administrators representing 35 districts and organizations from Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The event featured 35 hands-on sessions focusing on AI tools, AI-infused activities and best practices for educators to use AI in their day-to-day work. Attendees were able to choose from a wide variety of sessions allowing them to follow the learning path that was most suitable for them.
During three different session times throughout the day, attendees participated in a series of unique learning opportunities, including panel discussions on the impact of AI on Pre-K-12 education from local superintendents, educational leaders, and teachers, as well as workshops and demonstrations led by PK-12 educators.
Keynote speakers included Marta McAlister and Dr. Justin Reich. McAlister is a former educator, now a program manager for Google for Education. She has worked on education teams at Google for over 10 years and currently manages a team that builds Google’s learning and teaching products. Dr. Reich is an associate professor of digital media at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, director of the Teaching Systems Lab, and author.
“DLD offers educators the chance to learn from one another and share their unique perspectives and experiences,” Medfield Public Schools Director of Instruction and Innovation Dr. Christine Power said. “It is essential for educators to have conversations about how to navigate these new and evolving tools, especially concerning unique topics like this year’s theme of artificial intelligence. I’d like to thank attendees and presenters, as well as those who helped organize and contributed to the success of the event.”
The day was planned by the DLD Committee, which is comprised of Dr. Power, and Medfield Public School teachers Neal Sonnenberg, Diane Horvath, Joseph Ahern and Marissa Foley.
