ATTLEBORO — Superintendent David Sawyer and Principal Jeffrey Cateon are pleased to share that Thomas Willett Elementary School students successfully hosted a Cereal Box Challenge to support the Hebron Food Pantry.

A total of 365 students in grades K-4 participated in the challenge and collected 250 cereal boxes from March 25 to April 5. The donations were transported to the Hebron Food Pantry in Attleboro today, April 12.

The Hebron Food Pantry operates three food pantries, serving an average of more than 300 families and individuals each week, making it the largest food pantry in the greater Attleboro area.

Before the donations were brought to the food pantry, all of the cereal boxes were organized into a domino maze throughout the first-floor hallways of the school. Students watched the maze get knocked down before they left school for April Vacation.

The challenge was a creative and exciting way to donate food and support the community. The domino maze activity was also a fun way for students to celebrate the donations they and their families provided.

Members of the Student Council expressed their excitement about participating in the cereal challenge and were proud to have so many donations to provide to the Hebron Food Pantry.

“I’m grateful to all of the students and families who donated to the Cereal Box Challenge,” Principal Cateon said. “Their donations will provide support to those who need it in the community, and it was wonderful to see students excited by the idea of giving back. The domino maze was also a fun way to engage students and encourage them to participate in and celebrate the challenge.”
