TEWKSBURY – Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested two people on drug charges on Friday.
JULIO RIVERA, AGE 35, of LAWRENCE, is charged with:
- Trafficking of Fentanyl (More Than 100 Grams)
- Trafficking of Cocaine (More Than 36 Grams)
- Possession of a Class A Drug (Subsequent Offense)
KARA WAUGH, AGE 31, of LAWRENCE, is charged with:
- Trafficking of Heroin/Morphine/Opium/Fentanyl (More Than 100 Grams)
- Trafficking of Cocaine (More Than 36 Grams)
- Possession of a Class A Drug
- Possession of a Class B Drug
On Friday, April 12, at about 3:21 a.m., Tewksbury Police responded to the Marriott Residence Inn on Andover Street. During their initial investigation, officers observed drugs and drug paraphernalia in a room of the hotel.
Police also learned that WAUGH was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants related to drug and theft charges. WAUGH and RIVERA were arrested without incident.
Police secured the hotel room and executed a search warrant there on Friday afternoon. This search led to the discovery of additional drugs, believed to be cocaine and Fentanyl, as well as items consistent with the distribution and sale of illicit substances.
WAUGH and RIVERA are scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday in Lowell District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
