UXBRIDGE — Superintendent Michael Baldassarre and Principal Michael Rubin are pleased to share that Massachusetts State Rep. Michael Soter recently presented two Uxbridge High School Seniors with citations ahead of National Student Government Day.
On Thursday, April 4 Uxbridge High School Rep. Soter, joined by Selectman John Wise, Superintendent Baldassare, Principal Rubin, Vice Principal Matt Bertrand, Dean of Students David Moura and Social Studies Teacher Brian Grady presented seniors Olivia Holden and Olivia Gray with citations recognizing their involvement in student government.
Holden is a member of the Uxbridge High School Performing Arts Department, the Uxbridge High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team, and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
Gray is a five-year member of the Uxbridge High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team and completed an internship in the social studies department this year. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and is active in several community activities.
In addition to this recognition, both Holden and Gray were invited to attend Student Government Day 2024, held on Friday, April 5 at the Massachusetts State House. Grady was also in attendance.
Student Government Day, formally known as Good Government Day, is an informative program about state government that includes students taking on the role of elected or appointed officials to observe the processes of government. The goal of the event is to provide an immersive experience in the state legislative process by allowing students to engage with representatives and empowering them to voice their own informed views on current legislation.
Throughout the day, Holden and Gray had the opportunity to participate in the legislative process through simulated committee hearings and House and Senate formal sessions, and exchange views with their peers throughout the state on statewide issues.
“On behalf of the district, I would like to congratulate Olivia Holden and Olivia Gray who were selected to represent Uxbridge High School during the 77th annual Student Government Day,” said Superintendent Baldassarre. “They have both devoted significant time to our school organizations and we are thrilled to join Rep. Soter in recognizing their contributions.”
