NEWPORT — Chief Travis Bingham reports that the Newport Police Department has charged a resident with Second Degree Domestic Assault.
DANA MALSHUK, AGE 55, OF NEWPORT, was arrested and charged with:
- Second Degree Domestic Assault
On Monday, April 8, at approximately 9:36 p.m., Newport Police received a report about an assault at a home on West Main Street. Officers responded and found the victim covered in blood and expressing fear of a person, later determined to be MALSHUK.
Officers found MALSHUK at the home. He initially refused to open the door, so officers kicked in the front door and took MALSHUK into custody without further incident.
MALSHUK was convicted of Domestic Assault in 2003.
MALSHUK was lodged at the Northern State Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail and will be arraigned Tuesday in Orleans Criminal Court.
