SOMERSET— The following is a statement from Police Chief Todd Costa, who will retire on Aug.3, from a 33-year career.

“Friends, family, and Somerset residents, on Tuesday, April 2, I informed the Board of Selectmen, through Town Administrator Mark Ullucci, of my intention to retire from the Somerset Police Department effective Aug. 3, after nearly 33 years of service.

“My decision has been prompted by the realization that my most valuable asset is time; time that I wish to dedicate to my family, including my wife retired Somerset Police Sgt. Tracey Costa, my son’s and grandchildren, and the pursuit of other interests.

“There will be plenty of opportunities to reflect upon my career and to express my sincere thanks to those who have taught and supported me over these past many years.

“To the residents of Somerset who have placed their confidence in me, please rest assured that for the next four months, I remain committed to assuring that you will continue to receive the excellence in policing and service that you deserve.”
