Main Library
Weekly Movie Matinees
All Weekly Movie Matinees are held on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at the Main Library, 40 Washington St.
- *TODAY* April 3: “The Color Purple”
The movie is a musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel about the life-long struggles of an African American woman living in the South during the early 1900s (IMDb description). Rated PG-13, runtime of 140 minutes. - April 10: “Matilda”
“Matilda” is about an intelligent little girl who is neglected by her parents and discovers that she has telekinetic powers. Not until a teacher shows her kindness for the first time does she realize that she can use those powers to do something about her sufferings and help her friends as well (Swank Motion Pictures description). Rated PG, runtime of 96 minutes. - April 17: “Me Before You”
In “Me Before You,” young and quirky Louisa “Lou” Clark moves from one job to the next to help her family make ends meet. Her cheerful attitude is put to the test when she becomes a caregiver for Will Traynor, a wealthy young banker left paralyzed from an accident two years earlier. Will’s cynical outlook starts to change when Louisa shows him that life is worth living (Apple TV description). Rated PG-13, runtime 110 minutes. - April 24: “Dumb Money”
Dumb Money is the ultimate David vs. Goliath tale, based on the insane true story of everyday people who flipped the script on Wall Street and got rich by turning GameStop into the world’s hottest company (Apple TV description). Rated R, runtime 104 minutes.

Audio Described Movie: “Dark Waters”
- Friday, April 5 at 2 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at the Main Library, 40 Washington St.
Rob Bilott is a lawyer whose specialization is defending corporate entities. One day, a farmer named Wilbur Tennant barges into his office and blackmails him into helping him sue the Dupont company for poisoning the Dry Run Creek. Rob decides to check out the situation himself, and what he sees convinces him to take on the case (Swank Motion Pictures description). Rated PG-13, runtime 126 minutes.
Audio-described movies are hosted on the first Friday of each month. Audio description (also referred to as “description” or “video description”) is defined as “the verbal depiction of key visual elements in media and live productions.” Audio description is a means to inform individuals who are blind or who have low vision about visual content essential for comprehension.

Foreign Film Friday: “The Sea Inside”
- Friday, April 26 at 2 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at the Main Library, 40 Washington St.
This involving rumination on life and death is the fact-based story of a Spanish quadriplegic battling for the right to die (Swank Motion Pictures description). Rated PG-13, runtime of 125 minutes.
The Thomas Crane Public Library hosts Foreign Film Fridays every month to feature titles from other countries and languages.

North Quincy Library

Monthly Movie Matinee @ Adams Shore: “The Good House”
- Thursday, April 18 at 2 p.m. in the Meeting Room at the Adams Shore Library, 519 Sea St.
Hildy, a divorced small-town realtor, struggles to feel normal in her day-to-day life. A struggling alcoholic, Hildy constantly spends her days lying and creating excuses to justify her drinking. Her family then stages an intervention, forcing her to come to terms with what her drinking is doing to everyone around her. Based on Ann Leary’s novel of the same name (Swank Motion Pictures description). Rated R, runtime 114 minutes.
