SOUTH EASTON — Southeastern Regional School District hosted its annual Arts Appreciation Night event last week.

On Wednesday, March 20, students, family and staff members attended the annual Arts Appreciation Night at the Southeastern Performing Arts Center (SPAC). The event showcased multiple pieces of artwork from more than 100 students in all grades in the Advertising Design & Marketing and the Video and Performing Arts program.

Some of the artwork displayed included, traditional drawings, paintings, digital art, photography, mixed media and fashion design.

One of the art exhibitions was the bi-annual Trashin’ Fashion Show. This year’s theme was Eras, inspired by different decades throughout the last century. Students took to the runway, modeling fashion outfits that they had designed throughout the school year that were constructed and repurposed from used and recycled materials, including trash bags, plastic grocery bags, paper plates and recycled fabric.

In addition to the artwork featured, students Arielle St. Louis, Chrystal Miranda and Sarah Celestin performed in a slam poetry trio. The poetry was centered around Women’s History Month, entitled “We Are Women”.

There was also a sneak peak of the Drama Club’s upcoming spring musical production “Mamma Mia!”, performed by Southeastern’s Drama Club students Rachel Krula and Nox Sandstrum. The show takes place on May 16, 17 and 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the SPAC. Those interested in attending the show can purchase tickets here.

“Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our Art Appreciation Night,” said Business Marketing Teacher Tony Lee. “Myself, Mrs. Jenni Enos, Mr. Wade Gomes and Ms. Hannah Williams are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication displayed by all of our students, artists and designers who contributed to the success of this event. Their passion and talent continue to inspire us and reinforce the importance of art education in fostering creativity, innovation, and self-expression. We look forward to continuing to celebrate and nurture the artistic talents of our students in the future.”
