UXBRIDGE — Principal Dr. Michael Rubin and Varsity Head Football Coach Matt Blood are pleased to announce that Uxbridge High School Senior Kellen LaChapelle was recently named quarterback of the All-State Super 26 Football Team by the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA).

Each year, the MHSFCA selects its own All-State Team, comprised of 26 football players from all divisions across the state of Massachusetts. Players are nominated by their head coach and nominations are reviewed by the All-State Super 26 Committee.

LaChapelle was nominated by Coach Blood and was one of 26 students selected for the team from a pool of 75 – 80 applicants. This is the first time a Uxbridge High School player has earned this recognition.

Assistant Varsity Football Coach David Moura, who is also the President of the MHSFCA, presented LaChapelle with the award on March 17 during the annual MHSFCA spring banquet, hosted by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston at the Burlington Marriott.

“When we reflect on the accomplishments of the 2023 football team and its tremendous success, it is no doubt due to the hard work of many: coaches, players, support staff,” said Principal Dr. Rubin. “For Kellen to earn an award like this validates that collective effort and is a credit to not only his incredible statlines and wins but also his leadership, character, and work ethic. He certainly represents the best of Spartan athletics.”

As this year’s senior captain, LaChapelle had 1,172 passing yards and threw 17 touchdown passes. He also ran for 1,416 rushing yards, averaging 11 yards per carry, and scored 26 rushing touchdowns.

Throughout his career at Uxbridge High School, LaChapelle earned the title of Uxbridge High School Varsity Football Team Captain, Central Mass All-Star, Division 7 New England Sports Journal Player of the Year, MHSFCA All-State Super 26 quarterback, Worcester telegram All-Star, and Division 7 State All-Star.

“I would like to congratulate Uxbridge High School Senior Kellen LaChapelle for a remarkable final season,” said Coach Moura. “Kellen is an exceptional athlete and team player. As president of the MHSFCA, it was a pleasure to honor our district’s own varsity football captain.”
