MATTAPOISETT — Superintendent Michael S. Nelson and Principal Michael Devoll are pleased to share that the Old Rochester Regional High School Student Council visited the Massachusetts State House on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
State Sen. Michael Rodrigues, of the 1st Bristol & Plymouth District, and legislative aide Kyle Neves invited the 35 Student Council members to a tour where students were invited to ask questions about the workings of state government.
In addition to a tour of the building, which included the House Chamber, Sen. Rodrigues treated the students to lunch and covered transportation costs.
“We believe it is vital to support students in civic engagement, and we are honored that Senator Rodrigues extended this invitation,” Superintendent Michael S. Nelson said.
Added Secretary of Student Council, Andrew Porter, a senior, “It was a unique educational experience that I hope we can continue in the future.”
