Plainville’s Taxation Aid Committee Continues Work to Award Tax Grants to Eligible Residents

PLAINVILLE — The Plainville Taxation Aid Committee is pleased to share an update on its ongoing work to aid low-income seniors and disabled residents in paying their property taxes.

PLAINVILLE — The Plainville Taxation Aid Committee is pleased to share an update on its ongoing work to aid low-income seniors and disabled residents in paying their property taxes.

In December 2023, the Plainville Taxation Aid Committee awarded eight tax grants to low-income seniors and disabled residents. The grants ranged from $750 to $950 and totaled $7,000. In the past three years, 30 Plainville residents have received tax grants totaling $20,000.

This year, the Committee is increasing the income limits in an effort to widen eligibility for the program. The process for tax grant applications will begin in June.

“Each year we are able to help defray the costs of property taxes for our low-income seniors and disabled residents thanks to the generous donations made by our community members,” Treasurer-Collector Janet Jannell said. “We hope that this year we can continue the success of this program by awarding more grants to help offset the costs of rising property taxes. We thank everyone for their generosity in support of this program.”

The Taxation Aid Fund is a voluntary program that allows community members to make donations to help Plainville residents pay their property tax. If residents or businesses wish to make a contribution to the fund, they are encouraged to mail a check made payable to:

Aid to the Elderly and Disabled Tax Fund

Online donations can be made on the Taxation Aid Committee’s webpage.

The Taxation Aid Committee is also seeking additional members to help continue this program. Residents who are interested in volunteering are asked to fill out an availability card and email it to Town Administrator Brian Noble at bnoble@plainville.ma.us
