SOUTH EASTON — Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School invites members of local media to attend a groundbreaking event on Monday where it will kick off its first building project partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
WHEN:
Monday, March 4, at 9:30 a.m.
WHERE:
25 Poquanticut Ave., South Easton
WHO:
Southeastern students and staff and Habitat for Humanity
WHAT:
Over the next two school years, students in both construction-related and non-construction-related vocational programs will volunteer their time to build two homes for community members. Properties will be built on Morse Road across from the South Easton campus, and on Poquanticut Avenue.
A few days a month, students will provide construction services in addition to Habitat for Humanity volunteers. The school sees this project as not only a way to give back to the community but to also provide hands-on experience for its vocational students.
Students and staff will be able to speak to the media during this event.
This new project was developed by Christina Guarini, Southeastern’s Executive Director of Access and Engagement.
