LITTLETON — Chief Matthew Pinard and Superintendent Kelly Clenchy would like to provide an update on the investigation of a threat made to Littleton schools on Tuesday evening.
Police have determined that the threat was not credible and there is no danger to students, faculty, or staff.
At about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, School Resource Officer Megan Wodzinski received information regarding two messages on social media about the possibility of someone bringing a weapon to a Littleton, MA, school on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
The investigation determined that the threat was a hoax involving a Littleton High School student and a juvenile who was from outside Littleton.
SRO Wodzinski led the investigation with assistance from Littleton Detectives and a Massachusetts State Trooper assigned to the FBI Anti-Terrorism/HART Unit.
“A huge thank you to SRO Wodzinski, who worked tirelessly to get to the bottom of this case. Her passion and dedication for Littleton students is evident by the work she does each day, and their safety is of utmost priority,” said Deputy Chief Jeff Patterson. “We are glad to have determined that this threat was not credible and will continue to ensure that all students and staff at Littleton feel safe at school.”
Counseling services will remain available at all Littleton schools for students who may have heard about this incident.
“We are so appreciative of the members of Littleton Police, whose persistent work on this investigation created a positive resolution,” said Superintendent Clenchy. “Our partnership with our public safety personnel is essential to the ongoing success and safety of our District. Thank you again to all who were involved in bringing this case to a close.”
