ARLINGTON — Police Chief Julie Flaherty provides the following update about its investigation of the discovery of shell casings inside Gibbs School on Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday, Feb. 7, at about 9:30 a.m., a staff member at the Gibbs School, 41 Foster St., informed School Resource Officer Bryan White that they had discovered two casings from a 9 mm handgun on the staircase of the main stairwell.
Additional Arlington officers responded to the school and K-9s searched the building. No additional casings or weapons were located.
Through a subsequent investigation, Arlington Police connected the casings to an individual who had attended an event at the school on Tuesday night. The individual cooperated with police.
Students, faculty, and staff were in no danger.
Arlington Police have determined that the casings were dropped by accident and have closed the investigation. No charges will be filed.
