PETERBOROUGH — Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Larry Pimental are pleased to announce that Peterborough Elementary School students recently participated in the Whale of a Day program.
On Jan. 31, Peterborough Elementary hosted the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation of Hampton and its 65-foot inflatable fin whale named Ladder.
Experts at Blue Ocean Society shared their knowledge with students, who learned more about whale anatomy and could explore inside Ladder.
Grade 4 students have been studying whales in science classes leading up to the visit.
This event was made possible by the Peterborough Elementary School PTO, which has been partnering with the school for years.
“This was a wonderful way for students to learn about whales in an interactive and exciting way, and I would like to thank the Peterborough Elementary School PTO and Blue Ocean Society for helping make this event possible,” said Principal Pimental. “At Peterborough Elementary we are committed to providing our students with experiential, collaborative learning and this program was a great way to continue this goal.”
