EAST BRIDGEWATER — Town Administrator Charles Seelig and the East Bridgewater Select Board invite residents to submit public comments regarding the option for the Town to purchase two parcels.
The properties, located near the corner of Washington Street and Crescent Street, are 12.35 acres (listed as Assessors Map 47, Parcel 10) and 40 acres (listed as Assessors Map 37, Parcel 12). The proposed purchase price for the properties together is $510,000.
The parcels are zoned for “open space use” but are proposed to be sold and used for a solar farm, though other uses including housing are possible. Under the Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 16A, the Town has the “first right of refusal” on agricultural property that is proposed to be sold and used for non-agricultural purposes. If the Town is interested in purchasing the parcel, it must match the offer of the potential buyer.
The East Bridgewater Select Board is interested in receiving public comments from any interested party about whether the Town should purchase these parcels. Comments must be submitted by Thursday, Feb. 8.
Comments can be submitted via email to rjohnson@eastbridgewaterma.gov, by calling the Select Board office at 508-378-1601, dropping off comments at the East Bridgewater Town Hall, or mailing comments to the East Bridgewater Select Board, 175 Central St., East Bridgewater, MA 02333.
