MEREDITH — Superintendent Mary Moriarty and Principal Amanda Downing are pleased to share that Inter-Lakes Middle/High School has been recognized for its work toward female diversity in Computer Science.
The College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award is given to schools that expand young women’s access to computer science. One of the metrics used to determine recipients is the percentage of female students who take the AP exam. Schools achieving 50 percent or higher are recognized.
The College Board is honoring 1,127 schools for their work in 2023. Inter-Lakes is the only New Hampshire school so honored.
The diversity initiatives stem from the leadership and guidance of AP Computer Science teacher Joanne Lau.
“We want to thank Mrs. Lau for her continued hard work creating interesting, relevant courses in the field of computer science and cybersecurity and increasing student participation and interest,” Downing said.
Lau was also invited to sit on the AP Board as an early table leader for the 2024 AP Computer Science Principles exam in Cincinnati.
