RYE —Town Administrator Matt Scruton, Police Chief Kevin Walsh and Fire Chief Mark Cotreau would like to share the following information with residents regarding road closures and storm damage repairs.
The Town of Rye, New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) and Seacoast emergency services are advising residents and visitors to avoid Route 1A in the area between Washington Road and Rye Harbor and between Causeway Road at the North Hampton town line to Route 111 Atlantic Ave. This advisement is due to storm damage repairs being conducted.
The two sections of the road will remain closed due to the cold temperatures that will prevent the finishing of repairs. Crews are currently estimating that the roads will reopen on Monday, Jan. 22.
Additionally, Rye has closed the sidewalk between Rye/North Hampton town line north to South Road until further notice. The previous storm caused significant damage and is currently a hazard to walk on.
Community members are asked to abide by the closure as added activity on the road may slow the ongoing repair work and impact the timeline for re-opening the roads. Community members are also asked not to move the traffic barricades or drive around a road closure sign.
Rye officials thank everyone for their patience as town officials and NHDOT crews work to ensure the bridge and roads are safe.
Additional questions about road closures and storm repairs should be directed to Police Chief Walsh at 603-964-5522.
