ROCHESTER — Superintendent Michael S. Nelson and Interim Principal Heidi Letendre wish to recognize Rochester Memorial School chorus students who performed the National Anthem at the Providence Bruins game over the weekend.

On Sunday, Jan. 14, over 40 Rochester Memorial School fifth- and sixth-grade chorus students sang the National Anthem before puck drop at the Providence Bruins game at the Amica Mutual Pavilion.

The Rochester Memorial School chorus participated in the family event last year and for several years prior. The group practiced during weekly chorus rehearsals. They were supported throughout their preparation and during the event by Music and Chorus teacher Susan Audette.

“I am extremely proud of this talented group of students! It’s very exciting and exhilarating to sing on the ice and be on the jumbotron. What an awesome experience!” Audette said. “Thank you to Stephanie Cyr, Mike Forns, Tracey Forns, Principal Letendre and our RMS community for their help and support.”

“As a school, we are very proud of our students for performing the National Anthem at the Providence Bruins game on Sunday,” Interim Principal Letendre said. “Our students did an amazing job singing and representing our school and the Rochester community. Congratulations to the fifth- and sixth-grade chorus students, and thank you to Susan Audette for her commitment to the RMS music program.”

The event was open to the entire school and students, family members and friends were able to purchase group seats to enjoy the game and see the group’s performance. About 300 tickets were sold.

“We are so proud to see our chorus students performing out in the community and applaud their work preparing for this event,” Superintendent Nelson said. “It was also great to see all of the students, family members and friends who attended the game, and we thank them for attending in support of the Rochester Memorial chorus members.”
