*UPDATE* Route 1A/Ocean Boulevard Remains Closed in Rye for Ongoing Bridge and Road Repairs

Police Chief/Emergency Management Director Kevin Walsh, Fire Chief/Assistant Emergency Management Director Mark Cotreau and Department of Public Works Director Jason Rucker report that Route 1A/Ocean Boulevard remains closed following coastal flooding that caused widespread damage.

RYE — Police Chief/Emergency Management Director Kevin Walsh, Fire Chief/Assistant Emergency Management Director Mark Cotreau and Department of Public Works Director Jason Rucker report that Route 1A/Ocean Boulevard remains closed following coastal flooding that caused widespread damage.

Route 1A/Ocean Boulevard remains closed to vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian travel from Route 111 (in North Hampton) to South Road in Rye. Route 1A/Ocean Boulevard is also closed from Rye Harbor to Washington Road.

The road closures remain in place until further notice to allow for bridge and road infrastructure repairs.

New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) crews are conducting ongoing work to clear the road, fix underneath road surfaces, and ensure bridges and roads are safe for travel to resume. Crews are expected to continue repair work on Wednesday, Jan. 17 after 7 a.m. due to anticipated snowfall on Jan. 16.

Community members are asked to abide by the closure as added activity on the road may slow the ongoing repair work and impact the timeline for re-opening the road. Community members are also asked not to move the traffic barricades or drive around a road closure sign.

Rye officials thank everyone for their patience as town officials and NHDOT crews work to ensure the bridge and roads are safe.
