RYE — Police Chief/Emergency Management Director Kevin Walsh, Fire Chief/Assistant Emergency Management Director Mark Cotreau and Department of Public Works Director Jason Rucker report that, due to coastal flooding that caused widespread damage to Route 1A/Ocean Boulevard, a portion of that road is currently closed.
Route 1A/Ocean Boulevard is closed to vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian travel from Route 111 (in North Hampton) to Brackett Road in Rye until further notice to allow for bridge and road infrastructure repairs.
New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) crews will be working to clear the road, fix walls/barriers, and ensure bridges and roads are safe for travel to resume. Crews are scheduled to continue repair work on Sunday, Jan. 14 after 9 a.m.
The patience and cooperation of the community are appreciated to allow for efficient repairs.
