PEPPERELL – Chief Todd Blain reports that the Pepperell Police Department, with assistance from numerous mutual aid partners, arrested two men on Saturday afternoon following a pursuit.
FREDDY DEYA, age 36, of WEBSTER, was charged with:
- Resisting Arrest
- Trespassing
- Fugitive From Justice
PEDRO CUADRADO, age 35, of LEOMINSTER, was charged with:
- Improper Storage of Ammunition Without a Firearms Identification Card
- Possession of a Class B Substance
On Friday afternoon, a Pepperell officer performing a routine check determined that a 2020 Toyota Camry in a parking lot on Foster Street was owned by DEYA, who was wanted on outstanding warrants.
Pepperell Police subsequently learned that DEYA was involved in a pursuit with Massachusetts State Police on Friday night.
State Police pursued that vehicle on Rte. 1A in Revere, then terminated the search. State Police attempted to stop the vehicle a few minutes later, but DEYA fled. Troopers did not pursue him due to the density of the area.
At about 10 p.m., Chelsea Police officers observed the vehicle and tried to stop it. DEYA fled, struck a cruiser, and again evaded capture. State Police were not involved in the Chelsea incident.
Pepperell Police observed the Camry on Foster Street again on Saturday afternoon, and set up a perimeter at about 3 p.m. with support from surrounding departments. Officers approached a man leaving a building, later determined to be CUADRADO, who ran away. DEYA then exited the building and ran toward the downtown area.
Following a foot pursuit and K9 tracking, DEYA was arrested behind a tree on a vacant lot on Mill Street.
DEYA and CUARDADO will be arraigned in Ayer District Court at a later date.
Chief Blain wishes to recognize Detective Justin Zink, K9 Officer Daniel Adams and K9 Taro, and thanks the Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Parole Department Officers, the Dunstable, Groton, and Townsend Police, and the Littleton Police K9 Unit for their assistance.
