WHEN:
Tuesday, Dec. 5, starting at 12 p.m.
WHERE:
Mandarin Oriental, Boston, 776 Boylston St., Boston
WHAT:
The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division hosts its Annual Luncheon to honor those who have made significant contributions to the mission of the Salvation Army and it’s mission of supporting others over the years.
Elizabeth Hopkins, weekday anchor for Boston 25 News, will emcee the event, as MFS Investment Management is recognized for more than 20 years of unwavering support of The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division through corporate citizenship and volunteerism.
Founded in Boston in 1924, MFS Investment Management, a U.S.-based global investment manager, has exhibited an unwavering commitment to finding the best, most durable investment opportunities for their clients. MFS has been an active and generous supporter of The Salvation Army’s Massachusetts Division for more than 20 years, bringing the kind of philanthropic support, volunteerism, and Board involvement that has made them an exemplar of modern corporate citizenship.
Boston designer and fashion icon Yolanda Cellucci will also be honored with the Al MacLeod Outstanding Volunteer Award for her more than 60 years of volunteerism to support The Salvation Army, which has included ringing the bell during winter in Waltham.
Cellucci also recently helped The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division raise thousands of dollars for Camp Wonderland, which will be the main beneficiary of the Annual Luncheon this year.
Established in 1924, Camp Wonderland is an ACA-accredited camp that provides a low-cost opportunity for children who would otherwise not be able to attend summer camp. For nearly 100 years, thousands of young people have been given a fresh perspective on life by meeting new friends and discovering new activities while attending.
“MFS Investment Management and Yolanda Cellucci have been major contributors to The Salvation Army for decades, and we are pleased to honor both of them for their amazing contributions,” said Major Scott Kelly, General Secretary, The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division. “This luncheon is our signature fundraising event which brings together local individuals, business leaders, and other community supporters to celebrate our mission while getting into the Christmas spirit.”
The Annual Luncheon comes just as The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division is seeing record levels of need from the communities it serves.
Donations to The Salvation Army provide life-changing social services and other programs across Massachusetts each year. With increasing requests for services as many people continue to struggle with the long-lasting impacts of the pandemic and inflation, The Salvation Army relies on support from donors and volunteers to help as many individuals and families as possible.
Families in need count on donor support to have a joyous holiday season. During a typical year, anywhere from 40-60% of funds raised by The Salvation Army come directly from public and individual contributions. Opportunities for individuals and businesses to show their support of The Salvation Army this holiday season are still available.
To shine a light on the work for The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division and the Mass Bay Corps supported through the Annual Luncheon, a custom kettle created by world-renowned designer Sondra Celli, which features more than 47,000 hand-placed Austrian crystals, will also be on display at the Luncheon.

About The Salvation Army Camps
Established in 1924, today The Salvation Army’s Camp Wonderland is an ACA-accredited camp that provides a low-cost opportunity for children who would otherwise not be able to attend summer camp. The Salvation Army has provided camp experiences nationwide since 1897. Since then, thousands of young people have been given a fresh perspective on life by meeting new friends and discovering new activities while at camp. Trained counselors help children navigate the complicated physical, emotional, and psychological struggles often associated with life back home. All of this is made possible because of generous donors who provide critical resources to enhance and maintain camps around the United States and sponsor campers who would otherwise not attend.
