LENOX — Principal Brenda Kelley is pleased to share that Morris Elementary School students gathered together to celebrate friendship during the school’s annual Friendsgiving Feast.
The Friendsgiving Feast – a gathering of the whole school to celebrate one another – was held on Tuesday, Nov. 21 in the Morris gymnasium.
Students each created their own watercolor painting of a cornucopia that they brought to the feast. Preschool students sang “I’m Thankful,” a song about giving thanks for friends and family, and were met with cheers and encouragement from their peers.
Each grade level sat together at “tables” made from different colors ofbutcher block paper. Each grade brought in one snack for their peers during the feast to go along with their lunch, turkey sandwiches and pumpkin bread provided by the cafeteria.
Kindergarten students brought carrots, first graders contributed Teddy Grahams, second graders supplied pretzels, third graders provided grapes, and fourth graders brought apple cider.
Grade 5 students – the “seniors” of Morris Elementary – served the snacks to their peers in black and white outfits, a rite of passage and tradition that most kids love during their time at Morris.
“The Friendsgiving Feast was a delightful celebration, filled with warmth, joy, and a true sense of community,” said Principal Kelley. “Our students reveled in the festivities, enjoying the spirit of togetherness and sharing the joy of the season.”
