LITTLETON — Superintendent Kelly Clenchy is pleased to share that Littleton Public Schools educators participated in the 7th Annual Cross-District Professional Development Day, expanding learning opportunities for educators across three school districts.
Cross-District Professional Development Day was created by school superintendents from Littleton Public Schools, Ayer-Shirley Regional School District, and Harvard Public Schools to develop opportunities for staff to work together and share ideas relevant to teaching and learning. Through this partnership, the districts have contracted with internationally known presenters that focus on professional development topics common to all three districts.
This year’s theme focused on the “Power of Collaboration.” Throughout the day, educators participated in workshops that focused on a variety of topics including Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Equity, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Trauma Informed Practice, and Innovation.
Senior Program Associate Johanna Barmore, Ed. D., and Director of Quality Schools and Districts Kevin Perks, Ph. D. – both of West Ed, a national leader in research, development, and service – gave the introductory keynote address on skillful facilitation and improving instructional practice.
This year’s Professional Development Day was unique in that Harvard Public Schools hosted all general education educators for the day, while Littleton hosted all special education and PreK educators, clinical staff, and related service providers.
“A big thanks to the team of educators from each district who collaborate on creating this day of professional development for all educators,” said Elizabeth Steele, Littleton’s Director of Teaching and Learning. “The Cross-District Professional Development Day is a great opportunity to come together with neighboring educators to share successes, problem solve challenges, and learn from and with each other.”
“In our seventh year participating in the Cross-District Professional Development Day, we have seen what a positive impact this partnership with Harvard and Ayer/Shirley has had on our educators,” said Superintendent Clenchy. “It is wonderful to see faculty and staff from across multiple districts share their knowledge and expertise with one another, all to improve their skills and help our students achieve their goals.”
