UXBRIDGE — Superintendent Michael Baldassarre and Principal Michael Rubin are pleased to share that Uxbridge High School students were recently inducted into the National Honor Society.
On Monday, Nov. 13, 33 students were inducted into the National Honor Society during a ceremony at Uxbridge High School.
The program is offered to students in grades 11 through 12. To qualify for the National Honor Society students must maintain a career average of 93 or higher, volunteer at least 20 hours per academic year, and have a discipline-free school record.
“The accomplishments of these students are also reflective of the hard work of their teachers, our staff, and their families,” said Superintendent Baldassarre. “On behalf of our school committee, we thank everyone for their dedication to excellence in our community.”
Science Department Leader Tracy Larkin serves as the advisor for Uxbridge High School’s National Honor Society program.
The 2023 Uxbridge National Honor Society Officers include Abby Phianesin, Syriana Douangsavanh, Siobhan Twohig-Mann, Olivia Gray and Brianna Moss.
The 33 inductees were selected by members of the UHS Faculty Council, comprised of teachers and staff. The council reviewed and scored applicants on the four pillars of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service.
After induction, students will participate in various service projects throughout the year, which include high school tutoring once a week, a middle school tutoring program at Whiten offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, a sports camp at Taft Elementary School’s after-school program, and volunteering at local animal shelters.
“I would like to congratulate our newest inductees to the UHS National Honor Society,” said Principal Rubin. “These students have set an example for their peers through their commitment to academics, leadership skills, volunteer work and more. We are proud to recognize them for this well-deserved achievement.”
